Tujunga Afternoon

This is an early work that I painted en plein air, alla prima, in Tujunga, CA.

It is very special to me as when I approached the third hour, standing in the sun, I knew it was a good one. This was one of my very first plein air works I'd ever done, and it is special to me. I pushed the color to enliven the painting. I relied upon shape and line to describe the elements of the painting, moreso than usual. I enjoy the spirit of this painting.
